Hi Mark.I fully agree with John. When I bought my #920 ( after much thought and doubt about maintenance beyond my capabilities ,hidden bugs, extra cost etc. ) this list's and Streetly's input have been great and very helpful to help me sort out quite some tech issues.I would want to see it running though.

Cheers,H

Mark - you have to go see it. If the guy can't get a power cord working
(huh?), then maybe you can get his price down to something reasonable.
I would approach this under the assumption that there will be many minor
things to fix or adjust (mostly adjust), but you may have some
electrical problems with a power supply or motor - maybe issues with the
motor controller, which I assume would be an SMS2 on this one. If he
says he can't get a cord, offer to bring one with you - gauge his
reaction from there. Remember, you have a lot of technical expertise at
your disposal here - guys that are really good at explaining things
clearly to novices, so if you're willing to ask questions, there won't
be a lot that mystifies you at the end of the day.

Take a camera with you so you can post photos with questions. Be sure
to take off the lid and the keyboard and get some shots of the interior

One of Ken's Moneypits has a very good photo guide to tearing down a
tron to it's components. I studied it the night before I went to see my
first tron and the guys at the studio thought I was some kind of expert
because I knew how to take it apart and reassemble it. Oh, and if the
keyboard feels funny, don't worry, that's adjustable and it's probably
way out of spec right now.
You have to go see it.
good luck,

johnb
