Thanks Bruce - I tried it today with a 5 amp fuse, and nothing popped, so I'm happy. At 240V, the motor is probably pulling about 500ma, and the pre-amp is 5/8 of damn all. What does concern me is the initial surge current when the motor speeds up to normal speed. I SHOULD know something about motors, but that was over 30 years ago - I learned it for the exam, then promptly forgot it! I'll try it tomorrow with a 3A and see what happens.
