Oh-Oh,I don't want to make you panic but this doesn't look good.
I had the same problem...I replaced the battery (in the Roland factory in
Geel-Belgium!) and it didn't work..Seemed like my memory-block is broken...
I have a little tape-recorder insterted in TAPE IN and everytime I turn my
studio on I load the patches in the memory...If I end my session and I
altered sounds in my jup8 I just save them on tape....Fast enough and no
memory needed..I know it looks like it takes time but in the time your
studio is booted the jup8 should have loaded it sounds already..
Keep me informed if you fix it/results
Good luck!
