They sound very different from each other. As different as an OB-8 and JP-8
or Pro-One and Odyssey.

A combo of the 2 is probably right.

JP-8 is far more rare. I joined Roland at the time JP-6 was selling so I saw
quantities shipped out. I guess there must be at least 10 times the number
of JP-6 in the world than there are JP-8.

The JP-8 really is among the best sounding polysynths ever made. I find it
hard to make it sound bad. It's not 3 times as good as JP-6, but it has that
little something extra that people are willing to pay a lot for (especially
on ebay).

Given the overall versatility and sound of each, the JP-6 is probably a
better deal at $900 than a JP-8 at $2000.

But JP-8 is one of those most desirable synths ever made. Among the best of
synths for the pickiest of people. It has "star quality" as a synth that
just had so many good things going for it. Maybe like Minimoog or Moog
Modular, it's recognized by many people as among the best at doing what it
does.

Ebay tends to distort values of certain most desirable of synths. Is a
Minimoog really worth $2000 when compared to other great monosynths under
$1000 like SH-5, Odyssey, Multimoog, etc.? To some people it is. And to some
people a JP-8 is worth far more than a JP-6.

Regards,
Mike.
