Subject: [AH] Assault With A Battery from a Jupiter-8

Since I'm asking around different places, anyone know of a good direct
source for replacement batteries for the JP-8? It seems that after a
rediculously long life of 17 years, mine has finally started to give up.
I didn't even think it would be that old because up until lately it's been
holding patches just fine. But yes, it appears to be a February 1983
antique just like the rest of the machine. Wow.
Anyway, that's been safely desoldered out of there, and now I need
a replacement bad. I'm going to try calling Roland US parts division
today, and also Panasonic (who I believe is the same company as Matsushita
Electric, the name on the side of the battery). But just in case all I
get is lots of babble and "You want a WHAT???" from those folks, has
anybody here ever been through the experience of getting one of these
things for your JP-8 before? Know any good channels to go through?

It's a 3-volt lithium cell, cylindrical, with solder terminal tabs on both
ends. The model number is BR-1/2A. It appears that Panasonic still makes
lithium cylindrical batteries with model numbers similar to that, but
nothing quite the same, or even quite the same size.

Any help is vastly appreciated! I can't live without JP-8. :-)
