What is strange is that there is ANOTHER VCA ∗before this one∗, a
CEM3360
which is
driven by the EG. This other VCA is for Master Volume. And it messes
up the
world.

I wonder how much the envelopes contribute towards the sound. I
noticed with my JP-8 that due to the envelopes and sinus LFO the whole synth
sounds so smooth. Besides that, I have to admit that the Jupiter-8
modulation amount is in the safe business, for example the env to filter
amount can cover only half the cutoff range. First I thought that this would
influence drastic the sound of the machine but compared with software
envelope synths the Jupiter-8 still has more punch. Same with the LFO, a
sinus is much smoother sounding than a triangle. Almost all synthesizers
these days are using triangles. On the Xpander you can at least lag the
waveform to smooth out the corners. Anyway, I would say that these also are
the reasons that the MKS-80 can never really reproduce the Jupiter sound.

Just my opinion, Cord
