Shotgun chip replacement almost never works and there is a very high likelihood that you will damage the connections. Like I said before, the Jup6 has absolutely terrible solder pads and traces. Study a simpler logic circuit first and work your way up to it or leave it alone.

OK...
I've been poking around some more (now that I've got a Juno 60 out of the way, and a set of fairchilds off the bench), and have established that the fault is indeed on the processor board.
I've noticed that even playing the keyboard causes the Jupiter to crash.
So... I've been looking at the schematics and looking at the common factors.
I've already ordered a replacement processor, and EPROM, but am thinking the issues could also be down to a peripheral chip failing.
Most of the logic chips are Toshiba 40H series. Does anyone know if these are 100% compatible with 74 series CMOS logic? i.e. The only current equivalent for the TC40H373P, is the 74HC373. I know they're pin and function compatible, but are there any pitfalls I need to be aware of?
Any info most appreciated
