Subject: fun with dual mode

While I love dual mode for those thick pads that clutter and muddy a
mix, I've found other uses for it as well.
Dual mode allows the AN1X to get close to modular synth abilities. By
layering two patches, I can design a two oscillator patch where I can
control the filter, the envelope, everything seperately for each
oscillator. I just have each oscillator in a different scene.
Try layering a patch with the key tracking turned all the way down
(for the bass thump) with a patch with the key tracking turned all
the way up.
Try varying the effects send(one wet, one dry etc).
One filter is modulated with a triangle wave, one with a square wave.
Have one patch have a slow attack, one have a quick attack, those
kind of things. Having two different portamento times can be a lot of
fun. Pulse mod goes up, the other pulse mod goes down.
Now when you consider that each scene has 16 matrix modulations, and
then you realize that you've got the free EG...You can spend days
down in the cellar turning knobs and playing with the AN1X edit
without ever actually practicing a single note.
