SoundQuest makes a commercial Editor/Librarian native to OS X and it supports the AN1x:
MIDI Quest and MIDI Quest XL. A demo can be had here:

http://www.squest.com/Macintosh/MidiQuest/MidiQuest-About.html

The primary difference being XL will run from within your VST host application allowing
you to control your AN1x as though it were a VSTi. I ran the demo for a short period, but
found its performance to be lackluster - perhaps this was an anomaly or a bug in how
MidiQuest communicated with my MT-4 - either way, I did not spend enough time with it
to comment on it's organizational features of the Librarian features.

Emagic made Sound Diver - another Editor/Librarian - which made it to a second beta
release under OS X after the move to Apple, but AFAIK it is not presently available as a
commercial product - I think SD in it's current state may only be available to licensed
users of previous releases and possibly Logic Pro users. There is well established SD list
here at Yahoo! Groups which you search for the latest news & rumors regarding SD. Again,
I cannot comment on it's organizational features of the Librarian features.

I believe Unisyn from MOTU might still be available for OS X, but I've no idea if it supports
the AN1x:

http://www.motu.com/products/software/unisyn/body.html/en

and then there is JSynthLib - an Open Source Universal Synthesizer Patch Editor / Librarian
written in the Java Language, but no AN1x support (yet? who konws...)

http://www.jsynthlib.org/

With the advent of virtual instruments, the sad truth is that Editor/Librarians are simply
not as much in demand as they use to be.

As already mentioned in this threa, AN1xEdit is an Editor/Librarian, i.e., it can be used to
both edit and store Voices and User Seq's, etc. from your AN1x, PLG150-AN and AN200.

Although AN1xEdit is not a native OS X application - nor will it be - it runs perfectly well
under Classic within OS X - just as it does under Mac OS 9. If you are running Panther, and
probably Tiger too, and you have a USB MIDI Interface with native drivers for both OS 9
(Classic) and OS X you may install OMS 2.3.8 under Classic with the appropriate driver for
your MIDI Interface and run AN1xEdit which will communicate as expected with your
AN1x. Apple made a change to the API within Panther that allows direct communication to
the hardware ports, i.e., USB ports, from within Classic - this was not permitted under
Jaguar or earlier revisions of OS X. Even without establishing MIDI communications from
within Classic, using AN1xEdit, the may be useful simply to convert the many banks of
.AN1 format voices to .MID or .SYX which can be used in other applications. Feel free to
post back with questions if you need assistance with this configuration. Somebody posted
this tip to the list at the beginning of this year and I've used this configuration reliably ever
since.

As mentioned in a previous post - there are two readily available freeware bulk librarians.

SysEx Librarian from
http://www.snoize.com/SysExLibrarian/

MIDI Dump from
http://perso.wanadoo.fr/mpergand/applis/midi_dump/en/midi_dump.html

Neither has an advantage over AN1xEdit for sorting or organizing your AN1x Voices as
they are Bulk Librarians - this means you will need to organize your voices on the AN1x
proper.

Yamaha included a Category Type which can be stored with each Voice as it is named, but
there is no provision in either AN1xEdit, or the AN1x itself, from which to sort your Voices
- this oversight again forces you to sort your voices manually. At the very least, you can
recognize what type of Voice you are working with assuming the Category has been
applied accurately.

As Jimmy already mentioned, you can sort your Voices within AN1xEdit manually by using
copy & paste to a second or third or fourth editing session - you simply click on the tabs
at the top of each window to 'jump' between the sessions, the you save each indepent of
each other named accordingly.

I believe Ed wrote a program to sort Voices by name, but I don't know how, or if, he dealt
with the Category Type field. You might care to glance at this doc:
http://tinyurl.com/96mkt Don't know if he's willing, or if he has the time, to modify his
program to sort on Category Type - it might not be possible, don't know either way.
