I use the AN expert editor for my plg150an(the version launched from
xg works lite; there is also a standalone version). The AN expert
editor was designed specifically for the plug-in card; it will
open/edit .an1 and .ans files, but only saves in .ans format. Also,
there is no provision for editing an1x scene2 or efx(plugin board has
amp sim only). There's probably a way to convert an .ans file to .an1,
but I haven't done much AN editing lately and forgot a few things
(been too busy Ionizing). As to how they compare, I prefer the AN
expert editors' sequencer editing page. Signal path, sync/fm
relationship is also easier to see. You won't find anything better
for editing the an1x than what you already use
though.
