Well, having quite some synths with high bandwidth, I prefere to use an EQ to
narrow the bandwidth of a synths signal, some synths even have built in ones that
can be saved with the sound, like the AN200 and I guess the AN1x can do that
too...
Anyway, it depends of the rest of the mix what frequencies you realy need, a high
hiss pad sound at the end of the sprectre can just round up the middle and higher
frequencies, if there's room for it. In other cases deep down pads an rising
basses can be fine, if the music is not kick based...
I know mixing is less work if the synth is a bit specialised and limited
frequency wise, but it imho limits sounddesign greatly...
Anyway, the AN seems to be quite pleasing to my ears for instance compared to the
Roland JP synths...
