most musicians that I have run into lately, have a notebook they use....
I would tend to call that "old school thought", borrowing that clever phrase for those who
think having a computer at a gig is bad news....
pointing out that 99% of your synths in use are now computers.... ;-)

I've heard good things about the Yamaha QY series of hardware
sequencers.
Even though there are certainly electronic musicians that use soft
sequencers/softsynths live, the conventional wisdom is that relying
on a PC for a live performance is leaving the door wide open for
technical problems/glitches.
