Thanks for the response Gary, but I'm still missing something...
please pardon my ignorance (dim-wittedness?).
I had tried all sorts of configurations when I first read the note at
the bottom of your CW routing diagrams page, but I could never get
any config to work but for exactly following the last schematic (dual
mode w/ record). Tried with Hwmdcabl.exe #1 & 2 but no #3, as the
note suggests, but that routing fails on my system, as does the one
you seem to suggest in your reply to this thread (no Hwmdcabl.exe
instances at all, unless I'm misinterpreting)... so I'm at a loss as
for that matter. I did actually get the PLG to sound through AN1xEdit
using the 'overly-complex' (grin) routing config, but getting CW to
control it is another problem entirely.
I could not find an 'enable midi thru' option in CW9's options-
>global panel or anywhere else in the program. I did find and
enable 'echo system exclusive', but that on its own seemed to have no
effect.
Also, have you, or anyone else, any suggestions as to how to
configure Cakewalk to send messages to the PLG? Do I need to find an
instrument definition for the card? How should the
source/port/channel settings work in this situation?
Again, please excuse my ignorance. The lack of information on the
theory and practical application of MIDI on the internet astounds me
(or at least my inability to find it (in a comprehensible form (for
Dummies))). ;)
I thank you so much for your guidance and patience. You are a model
human being and a genius to boot! ;)
