Most likely Access have same, slightly modular, board in all the synths. Only
casing and some of the features the casing supports (such as keyboard) differ
between. I find this very genious idea (would have done the same myself).
Heart of the synth is the same, so you don't need to design and produce
entire new synth just to have different versions. If you look closely, the
boards eg. in the new Virus TI look the same. Even the knobs are at the exact
same places. Some people like the POLAR more than Keyboard.. or some people
don't want Keyboard but want Desktop version. I wouldn't be surprised if
there was rack version coming too (or mounting for the Desktop version).
Offer the same synth in different packages for more wider customer base and
price range with less work.
Could say it's "collect 'em all" marketing ways with synths.. ;)
