I've never opened up an AN1x to se what keyboard mechanism it uses, but
I have opened up an Oberheim Matrix-6, Korg O1/W, and a Roland V-Synth,
and they are all pretty similar. They rely on a combination of a return
spring and a copious amount of lubrication to make the keyboard action
work, and to work smoothly. Your problem might be as simple as
re-lubricating the hinge joint on the keys, or it could be that the
return spring has come loose, otherwise fallen out.
I'd suspect a lack of lubricant as the most likely cause for a sticky
key.
Some of the keyboards use a white grease, while others used what
appeared to be silicone lubricant. I'd opt for the latter as in my
experience it tends to last longer and is slightly less likely to
attract dirt and dust.
While you've got it open you might want to lubricate all the key hinges
to keep it working smoothly for the next 5 years or so.
Also, since you've got the hood up (so to speak) you can also change out
the battery that the keyboard uses to store sounds and settings when
it's turned off. My experience has been that these batteries will fail
when you least expect it, and when you need it the most. I thought my
O1/W was fried for sure when the battery failed as it behaved very
erratically and then stopped working altogether over the space of a
couple of days. But replacing the battery and then re-loading my sounds
brought it all back to perfect. The O1/W is also famous for having
sticky keys after a few years, and in almost all cases it's just a lack
of lubricant.
Be sure and back up all your data before you crack open the case. And
keep track of those screws!
