The only "spyware" which can install itself without user consent, is cookies (usually). Maybe she found tracking cookies? Those aren't really spyware, or harmful at least. Most spyware comes from clicking "yes" on dialog boxes while surfing dubious webpages ("You must download XXX to make this page work"-type of thing) or by installing Kazaa,WinMx etc.
