I just am not digging the fm out of my ION. I also don't really like the mod matrix it has to edit with. I hope the sysx data comes out soon along with some more midi info so I can make a front end to it to access some of that great programming a few of the other users tell me about.

I been told I was crazy when I said thin and ION together, now I see someone else who seems to ponder the same. Maybe I am not so crazy ?

The ION seems best when it is feed to a filter queen or added too with effects (outboard). I do agree with you on the MS2k, it has a different sound and feel. Now the other bad boys you mention, well they are in a different class, both price and function wise.

I can't say anything about a An1x etc, having not heard one in real life, only samples and download music.

i have noticed that the ION is very difficult to blend with other
instruments in my studio. it definitely has a thinner sound, or something.
to my ears, it's just not cutting it. of course, it's up against some
serious competition (Virus KB, An200, Novation KS-Rack, etc), so perhaps
there's just more work to be done on it. after reading some of the posts
here regarding other peoples experience with it, i've gone back to try more
programming on it, but it's still eluding me somehow.

the MS2k has a solid buzzy, much more raw sound to it. that's why i like my
AN200 so much, it can be so many different things (buzzy & raw, smooth &
silky). the Ion is good for FM type sounds though, enough so that i sold my
Nord.
