Scott,
Two things to keep in mind:
1. those four seperate stereo pairs can always be used as mono inputs
simply by using only one of the two inputs per pair.
2. those four seperate stereo pairs will typically have their signal
summed when sent to a FX send. Not many budget mixers offer 'true'
stereo sends - you'd need to use both sends in parallel AND your FX
processor would need to effect each channel individually. Again, not
typical for a budget FX processor. The EQ and Pan settings are
applied equally to both the left and right sides of a pair - this
isn't going to be a problem so long as you avoid the 'everything in
stereo mish mash' that Mike alludes to in his post.
