Yes, more than initially meets the eye. Although timid by say, Rick Wakeman's standards, it's quite musical and well placed in the mix. I doubt that it's completely true, but I've heard Abbey Road mentioned as the "first rock/pop use of a synthesizer." Certainly, it's an early one, and remarkable because none of the Beatles were technically a "keyboard player."
