Hi Dale,
>Anyone here use a external midi controller?
>I am thinking about the Evolution UC-33
I use the UC-33's little brother, the UC-16. It works well, and is really easy to program through its keypad. Each knob can be mapped to its own controller, on its own channel. The knobs are a little small, but that seems to be the general direction that all of the MIDI control surfaces/keyboards are heading, to keep the size down. The only real complaints that I have about the UC-16 are that it only has a MIDI Out jack so it can't pass through (which is OK, because I have a Quadra Merge with leftover Ins), and it cannot change patch numbers. IIRC, both of these problems are fixed on the UC-33.
Oh, and it needs a wall wart if it's not plugged into USB, but that's another "standard procedure" on musical products these days. I wish someone would follow the lead of my Roland HP-3500 piano, which has two built-in "9V DC Out" jacks to power other gear.
Regards,
-BW
