Legal? Yeah, I do it all the time, if you mean what I think you mean. I do
enjoy mod wheel work, but my main expressive playing is with aftertouch. So I
often have the mod wheel assigned only to Scene morphing on the AN1x. I find
the mod wheel a little loose and wobbly for expressive playing anyway; I'm so
used to the ones on my Kawai and my Korg that I always overshoot when playing
the AN1x.
So far, this Xpander guy has been pretty impressed with that little board. For
the money, it's a fun synth, and I haven't found anything at anywhere near the
price that's as comfortable/compact/powerful as a pure MIDI controller... with
the POSSIBLE exception of the Yamaha V2 (sold in the USA as the DX11), which
is rare as rocking-horse flop these days but usually stupid cheap when you can
find one (kinda like Dig Allen books, but that's another hobby and another
mailing list).
