Hi Jerry and group,
The controls that I have over the AN1x during live performance are so
useful and musical it makes me doubt I will be replacing this instrument
soon. What makes it so versatile? Two Yamaha FC7 pedals... one connected
to the "foot controller" jack and one connected to the "foot volume" jack.
I have routed the "foot controller" to increase the variable effects
parameter and the "foot volume" to morph between scenes.
Some effects glitch and drop out the sounds when increased. You'll have
to experiment to find which ones are useful. If you want to learn to morph
without disharmonious and distorted output you should make sure that all of
the oscillators of the morphed sounds are set to the same pitch for each
oscillator (otherwise the pitch will slide up or down as you move the pedal
changing the note you are playing) and that the FM as well as the other
modulators do not give non-musical sounds during morphing. Sure, in some
cases bad sounds may be useful. But you'll have to experiment to discover
the best patches to morph between. There are a lot of patches which are
completely incompatable for morphing between.
This is only a little of what I've learned, and I'm still learning. The
best purchases I've made for the AN1x are the FC7 variable pedals and the
hold pedal.
