Hi Gary,
>An1xEdit works fine under XP
Please allow me to add a slight set of parentheses to your comment. AN1xEdit works fine under Win2K and WinXP, but there is definitely something going on "under the hood" when using a USB adapter with AN1xEdit and one of these later Windows OS versions.
I have found, experimentally, that I cannot reliably do a Select All and upload the presets and sequences from the AN1x through my Midiman 2x2USB interface; more often than not, the process hangs somewhere between say, preset 35 and preset 60. However, if I "cheat" and upload the presets/sequences in 4-5 parts, it comes through fine every time. Now, I'm not saying that this is AN1xEdit's fault: perhaps it's a flaw in the USB driver, or perhaps the program uses more system "horsepower" and so runs up against limitations in the OS more than other applications. I have noticed, however, that I have never had this problem under Win98SE. I've talked to a couple of XP users who have similar problems to my Win2K scenario. FWIW, there is something going on between your program and later Windows versions -- and deserved or not, your otherwise superb program is probably taking the rap for it most of the time.
Regards,
-BW
