Subject: Re: [AN1x] Implementing power supply inside the AN

From: Bruce Wahler <bruce@...>

Hi AQ,

This could probably be done, but the body of the AN1x is made of soft plastic, and many of the internal supplies use an IEC connector. I would be concerned about the long-term reliability of the connector from the stress of plugging and unplugging the power cord.

A better idea, IMHO, is to replace the "wall wart" adapter with one of the smaller switching adapters that laptop PCs use. (I did this on my AN1x.) These adapters are lighter weight than the PA-3B that comes with the AN1x, and have a separate power cord so they can sit on the floor below the synth, instead of hanging from a wall outlet or a power strip. I used to sell a low-cost one that fits the AN1x at my Internet store, but my supplier ran out, and the replacement is much more expensive. Recently, though, I found five of them in storage, so if you or anyone else is interested, please contact me off-list.

Regards,

-BW
