Subject: RE: [AN1x] Re: editor hangs

Hi Gary,

>If so and AN1xEdit hangs, then it would imply the MIDI device driver is never acknowledging data transfers from AN1xEdit (Basically AN1xEdit sends a sysex message and waits for the driver to say it is sent. It then waits 50ms and sends the next packet. If the driver never acknowledges the packet is sent then AN1xEdit may wait forever).

I've never had this happen with Win98SE, but it happens all the time in Win2K SP2 with my legacy (joystick/MPU-401) port, and occasionally with my MIDIman 2x2USB, particularly since I upgraded to the multi-client driver. One or two patches get sent to the port, then nothing more, and I have to close down the application manually. I believe that it's a driver issue, and I'm even willing to buy that it's really the drivers' fault -- but it seems to only happen with AN1xEdit. Everything else I use is fine -- Cakewalk, Cubase, Media Player. Are you accessing the MIDI driver in a unique way, compared to other music programs?

Regards,

-BW
