i had to sell my an1x about a year ago to cover some bills.
i still miss it. i agree with some other users in that:

the an1x can sound kind of "canned" "plastic" or "limiting" sometimes.
that the controller messages/values aren't smooth enough.
there's stepping sometimes, the hardware itself is "kind of cheap".

i was always hoping yamaha would have released the next generation.
something like an AN2x would be nice!

my ideas for an update?

Add an extra OSC or two
second filter that you can route series or parallel
MORE POLYPHONY
MORE MIDI CHANNELS/multi timbral channels/splits
can route effects to any/or specific layer/scene/channel
MIDI/BPM syncable delays and mod effects
a user step programmable arp
an extra LFO or two(MIDI syncable of course!)
smoother controllers
better knobs

LARGER CONSOLE WITH BETTER USER INTERFACE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

dont get me wrong, i'd much rather an AN1x over it's comp the jp8000.

why did yamaha make the plg series or bother with the AN200?
i would've preferred the an series to grow in some other way.
