Subject: Patch sharing

This is not to get out of sending in lead patches for the patch
sharing exercise. But some time ago (a long time ago) we talked about
sharing patches and describing them. Here is a lead patch I have been
working on for a while. It's called EarthHorn and you'll need to sign
in to Yahoo briefcase to pick it up:

http://briefcase.yahoo.com/

You would have to sign in as me to get the patch:

Name: RimskyRimsky
Password: 11231123

The file is called EarthHorn.AN1 I played a piece using this patch,
which I am hoping can be included on a compilation cd. I would
greatly appreciate your honest comments and advice. The piece is
called Monologue and you can find an unmastered mp3 here:

http://artists.mp3s.com/artist_song/2682/2682741.html

It's a little rough. I smoothed out the dynamics in mastering. Don't
have a mastered file on the web though. The idea was to compose a
solo piece for monophonic synthesizer, forcing the synth to be
expressive in the tradition of other mono instruments.

More about the patch:

- Inverted envelope on main patch, hold out the note and use
aftertouch to sweeten the tone
- pitch bending (+-3) on the X ribbon
- pitch bending (+-12) on the pitch wheel
- accented attack (pitch envelope) on the Z ribbon
- You can brighten the sound to taste with knob # 5
- You can morph to the second scene creating sidebands for effect if
you like

The basic trick was to use the inverted envelope to brighten the
sound as it sustains, and to use fm and oscillator sync to give a
controllable nasal quality found in double reed (shawm, duduk, oboe)
instruments.

I'd love any feedback. Enjoy!
