>The main problem, I hinted at before, was the splitter cable from the Soundcard Game port. I had swapped the two MIDI cables back and forth and the problem remained, but I finally came around and bought another splitter cable. I should know by now...that even though it "doesn't make sense" that a cable that kinda worked before, without being run over by a truck or anything...suddenly doesn't work. But that happens. Even when it is pretty new.FYI: That "splitter cable" is a bit more than just a cable. The MIDI connections on a joystick port are not suitable to directly connect to a MIDI port, and have to be processed with some relatively simple hardware. (For those who are interested, the joystick signals are +5V logic levels, while MIDI is a current loop communication scheme.) Each adapter cable or breakout box contains this hardware, and 1) some versions are more compatible than others; and 2) the electronics could have been damaged.
