You will only hear anything if you are actually changing the pitch of an
oscillator.
Sync works on the principle of locking harmonics of one oscillator to
another. These changes will only be heard if you modulate the oscillator that
the sync is latching to (or is that the other way round??)- Sync produce that
(IMO) horrible 80's sound- to get screeming lead type sounds. But it can be
used subtley to create other waveform timbres. What this function does (the
parameter you describe) is link sync with FM- for all matter of "sounds from
hell"!- Carefully used, you can get some wonderful DX100 type noises- but
remember, the FM on the AN1x is very basic- and is not algorhymic- unlike the
DX series.
