Apologies to those who aren't interested in this topic - I'm trying
to keep the on list traffic to a minimum but the overwhelming
opinion was this is on topic, so...
Here's the current status: the response to the get together has
been terrific! I've had about ten replies between two lists
solicited: AN1x-list and the ASR-X list - and I asked UGO to
extended the invite to his FIZMO users list (I've also emailed
some ex list members who might like to attend - we'll see what
happens with them.) I think we'll have an interesting group of
attendees if all goes as planned. It amazes me how many
common interests are shared amongst us.
I've received an offer from one list member to actually meet at
their home studio(!) ("Hey honey, guess who's coming to
dinner?") and another list member provided a ∗wealth∗ of
suggestions for coordinating an event where we would bring our
instruments and amps for a jam session. These are great idea's
- and I'd like to follow up on them but first I want to get this 'event'
up and running. There will be a next time - and my thinking is
these idea's would be great for smaller, list specific gatherings
(say 5 or so people?) We can discuss this further...
If your name is on the list below then I received a reply from you
either directly or via a Yahoo! Groups mailing list:
ASR-X list:
Max Bent
oper (Scott)
SEAN SOMERVILLE
Madhuntter
UGO
AN1X-list:
Ed Edwards
Sayer
Randy Johnson
mummer7
Jon
If your name is not on the list and you would like to be included -
email me at
jondl_200@... Everybody is welcome.
I'm driving up to Wheaton, MD this week to scope out some
meeting places that were suggested (thank you, btw!)
The tentative dates are:
May 25
June 8
June 15
June 22.
My choice would be June 8 w/ June 15 as a fall back - this leave
time for people to plan ahead. I'll be very busy the week of the
25th which leaves little time for me to deal with anything last
minute but that doesn't mean we can't go with that date.
If you have any resource materials (old articles, magazines, etc.)
you'd like to share - or demos to hand out - feel free to bring
them along. Please, no warez or bootleg sample CDs - not that
anybody would do that :-)
Keep in mind I'm only referring to this as 'DC Metro Musicians' for
lack of a better term :-P There are just so many of us in this area
who happened to meet online I think it will be a rewarding
experience to place a face with a name and share our interest in
electronic instruments. I'm really looking forward to this and
hope everybody else is too!
regards,
Jon
p.s. - Barring any dramatic events I plan to send out another
update next Wednesday
