Subject: Re: [AN1x-list] Logic/Mac and An1X as masterkeyboard

Hi Tajo,
I've just put a copy of Logic Audio (demo copy) up on my Mac week before
last. So far, so good. Think I'm going to buy it. I'm no Logic Audio
expert but I'll try to help. Forgive me if i get some of the Logic
terms wrong - I don't have a manual yet.

When I installed the program it prompted me to build my environment(s)
from my OMS Set-up document. I chose yes and it worked like a champ!
Both my synth and sampler are set-up correctly, i.e., AN1x will receive
on MIDI Ch. 1 & 2, ASR-X can receive on Ch. 1 - 16, and either can be
used as a controller. No problems recognizing my Opcode MIDI Interface either.

On your AN1x, I would first set Local to OFF under the UTILITY/SETUP
menu; then check that MIDI Tx Ch is set accordingly, in my case I let it
default to Trns Ch 1; then check MIDI Rx Ch - again, I let it default to
Rceive Ch 1; now you should check MIDI Ptn Tx Ch under the ARPEGGIO/SEQ
Menu - I leave Arp TrnsCh set to off unless I actually intend to record
the output of the ARP/SEQ back into my Mac sequencer.

You should have to worry about disabling "Transmit MIDI Clock" in Logic.
The AN1x will not respond to MIDI Clock unless you adjust Tempo control
below 40 bpm so the display reads MIDI.

With the above set-up I've not experienced any MIDI Feedback loops as
you described. I strongly suspect the MIDI Ptn Tx Ch setting on your
AN1x is the culprit but without more details from you I can't be
certain. Do you run OMS? Most Mac users do so for the MIDI apps so I'm
assuming you do too?

Let me know if this is of help.

Regards,
Jon
