I once had a similar problem where every note was received by my sequencer
(Pro Tools) twice. One note on top of another.

As it turned out, my sequencer's list of 'input devices' were set to
register notes from my AN1x ∗plus∗ my MIDI Interface. Of course my interface
was being fed notes from my AN1x. The end result: the sequencer would
register a note from my AN1x ∗and∗ my interface. Solution: I switched off
the interface as one of my input devices.

Not sure if it helps you, but it was really bugging me for a while.
