I don't understand why the MPC2K has to be the master clock? Why not
use Cakewalk as the master and slave, or trigger, the MPC2K. Are you
trying to dump an MPC Sequence into Cakwalk?

If it were ∗my∗ set-up I'd not hesitate to use a multiport MIDI
Interface so that each bit of kit would be on it's own port but,
assuming you don't have, need, or want a multiport MIDI Interface, try
this:

Cakewalk Out -> AN1x In
AN1x Out - > Cakewalk In
AN1x Thru -> MPC2K In

Make certain the preference setting in Cakewalk are set to transmit
MIDI Clock and not to filter any incoming messages that you're trying
to record.

Alternately, you could try this:

Cakewalk Out -> AN1x In
AN1x Thru -> MPC2K In
MPC2K Out -> Cakewalk In

This set-up ∗should∗ let you slave Cakewalk to the MPC - assuming the
MPC is correctly set-up to transmit MIDI Clock and Cakwalk is set-up to
receive clock from an external source.

Good luck. Let us know how it goes.
