Eric,
This a known 'problem' with the Mac version of AN1xEdit and OMS.
Apparently AN1xEdit and OMS can lose communication. Here's the step
by step fix that works for me with my serial (modem port) MIDI
Interface on a G3 desktop PowerMac:

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/AN1x-list/files/Tips%20and%
20Tricks/tt_an1xedit_not_receive.htm

(beware the wrap around text in the URL - you might want to cut and
paste the link into your browsers address line)

I've never been able to use a USB MIDI Interface to receive sysex in
AN1xEdit (using either the MIDIMAN or Opcode USB 2x2 interfaces.)
Transmitting voices from AN1xEdit works reliably. For that matter,
SysEx over USB in general has been dodgy on my Mac using just about
any and all Apple drivers (currently running OS 9.1.) I've heard that
the Emagic MT4 firmware has a larger buffer for data reception than
that of the MIDIMAN or Opcode models and it does not suffer this
problem. I've not tried the MT4 1st hand - I picked this info up on
the Logic users list from a post by one of the Emagic programmers. If
memory serves, Joop - another iMac and AN1x user, was successfully
using either an AMT8 or Unitor MkII w/ AN1xEdit - don't recall which.

You might want to search the list archives as we've discussed this
very topic early and often ;-)

regards,

Jon
