...but it get easier as you become more familiar with the AN1x. If you
REALLY want to see all the routings simultaneously then you'll want to
use AN1xEdit which is an excellent cross platform, freeware Editor/
Librarian for the AN1x and PLG150AN, et al.

This is a known defect from a few years ago that Yamaha openly
acknowledged. I had the repair completed while under warranty about two
years ago. Unfortunately it requires sending the AN1x back to a Yamaha
Service Center/Factory. For details of my experience see:
http://www.jdlx-musique.com/support/an1x/tt_factmod.htm

The problem doesn't appear to result in any further degradation but
don't quote me on that.

(FWIW - there are a number of updates to the Tips & Tricks which are
ready but not have been posted yet. Stay tuned - change is coming!)

TIP - when you use the ASSIGN knobs to alter the sound and you go to
hit save you might be surprised to find later that your edit did not
save. Make certain you are in edit mode, i.e., any of the knob
parameter groups are active, when you make changes you intend to save.
The ASSIGN knobs are intended for quick, real time changes.

Make use of the links section here at Yahoo!Groups and the Files
section:

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/AN1x-list/links
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/AN1x-list/files

You'll find many resources and documents along these lines. BTW -
that's a pretty trick recommendation to use the Clavia Mod manuals. I
have to check those out!

Good question?! And no, you're not alone ;-)

I use a simple Synth and Sampler combo, a variety of Digital Audio sw
programs, some freeware Ed/Libs and my sequencer of choice these days
is Logic Audio Gold for Mac.

The AN1x is a fine synth to own! I hope you'll be happy with your
purchase for some time to come.
