I was in the discussion of which is better
Digital or Analog since the 80's...
I think that when it comes to recording tracks
I'll take the analog over digital for the warmth, Punch and
the "glue" effect it has over the music tracks.
But...
The digital has the "Almost Perfect mirror" effect
on the recording tracks and it is great for editing
the tracks on a PC etc.
So,
I think recording to digital first, Editing and transfer to Analog
for the last process = MIX .
When it comes to Synths.
Even I was so amazed at the time the good old DX-7 came out,
I remember spending days at the store playing with this
great Digital synthesizer.
Lucky me, I never sold any of my old Analog synths instead
and I remember working in the studio with my regular setup
that included a Korg P-800,
and a DX-7 surrounded by Roland SH-101,MC-202 and a TB-303..wow
in those days no one thought that something like AN1X
will ever be available.
I like the AN1X for what it is
even though it is not Analog
it is a totaly different and unique synth.
Sometimes when you try to achive something -
in the end you get something different.
comparing it to the other VA synths -
it is much more "Analog like" in parameters and sound more like a
good "old" analog poly synth than others VA.
So idon't see a point of comparing it to any analog.
By the way,
I owned many synthesizers ( started my collection in the 70's)
and the An1z sits in a very respected place in my studio.
It doesn't have the "balls" of the Jupiters but who cares ?
