Hi Crow,
The An1x is not really the synth for experimenting with microtuning
(although other Yamaha synths such as the XG range do support it).
To introduce microtuning would require a rewrite of the firmware....and
that's not going to happen for a discontinued synth.
Therefore the best you can hope for is to get 2 note poly using your
existing method. To do this, load the same sound into both scenes and
operate in Split mode with each scene assigned to a different MIDI channel.
In that way you should be able to play two notes, each with a different
pitch bend.
Alternatively (if money were no object!) you could buy the new Kenton
Plugstation and load it with four PLG150AN cards. You could then drive each
card on a different MIDI channel....giving you 4 note poly microtuned etc
:-)
Regards
Gary

AN1x-list@egroups.comSubject: [AN1x-list] Question for the An1x pros...
Regarding tuning.
I am a microtonal composer completely ennamored of the An1x...
I've been using a fine program called MidiRelay which assigns pitch
bend according to midi note number, which works great on the An1x as
long as I'm satisfied with one note at a time; I'm not at all
satisfied, but for such brilliant sounds I've been making do. Now.
Is there anything I can do about this? Can I hold three buttons
during start up that'll take me to a system menu type place that will
allow me to re-tune things? Can I get some magic piece of software
that'll at least let me play 2 or 3 notes at once? I'd even be
willing to ship the synth off somewhere and have a professional open
it up at do some re-wiring, if that'd work.
Everyone I've talked to so far (local music stores etc) hasn't had
a clue. Anyone know how I could get a hold of someone who actually
built the synth?
Desperately,
-Crow
