Subject: Re: [AN1x-list] sampler or computer

Recently I had the same "problem"....buying sampler or a computer....
I chose for the sampler....because it's hardware. If you want to use a
computer for audio, the computer has at least 500 MHz and 128 Mb Ram (told
te me) and you'll have to buy an expensive audiocard....Those two things are
more expensive than a esi4000 with scsi hdd. And you can always connect your
sampler (esi2000, esi4000 too) by using scsi to your computer and cut/paste,
etc with SoundForge.
If you choose the pc option, I'll advice you to work with two Operating
Systems, one for music and one for other use. Your computer has less chance
to crash.

> Well I rarely post to the list but I am always reading and what not. This
post really isn't about my wonderful AN1X but it might have some impact on
it. I am looking into getting a sampler and debating between getting an
actual hardware sampler. Thinking of a esi 4000 or 2000, something along
those lines. Or if I should just build a computer dedicated to audio. And
use some sampling programs and also use it to sequence. I will most likely
and hopefully be using this set up live and it will have the An1x, a akai
ax73 and in time a drum pad system running in/out of it. I think a computer
would be a more useful way to go but I really do like hardware
better...easier to use, less crashes....more buttons... but also more money
which I don't have.
