The thing with VST is that it's very platform-independant. You would only
have to re-compile your code and you can run it on Windows, MacOS, BeOS,
Linux, whatever, and also in the VST application of your choice.. Also, you
don't have to worry about MIDI issues and you can even have the VST host
draw your user interface.
VST instruments and filters are relatively easy and fast to implement. So,
making a MIDI-only plug-in, for instance a synth editor, would only seem
logical to me.
Hey Gary, how about a VST AN1xEdit? :)
My dream is to build a dedicated VST box one day, without things like
Windows getting in the way. Just VST and a very light host OS.
