Hi Steve,
Yes, you can run 2 different sounds on separate MIDI channels...
(As you probably know, each patch contains 2 scenes (which you can swap
between by hitting the Scene buttons located below the Volume knob".)
- Press the MIDI "Rx Ch" button so that the current MIDI Receive Channel can
been seen in the display.
- Now, if you hit the Layer button and go through the modes, you'll see that
when on Dual or Split, it will tell you what a particular Scene MIDI Rx Ch
is. Now by pressing the Scene buttons again, you can access what MIDI Rx Ch
the other Scene is on. They may in fact be sitting on the same channel.
- From here, you can assign different Rx Ch's for each scene - but only when
in Dual or Split Layer modes.
Hope this helps. Any problems then please post back,
Also, when the AN1x was released, 2 parts was pretty much standard for
virtual analogues (without spending 3 times the price on a Supernova).
Phil

The only thing that really annoys me about the an1x, is that you can only
play one voice at a time... its my only keyboard and when I bought it I
didn't have a clue what multitimbrality was... bummer.
Thing is, it's s'posed to be two parts multitimbral, with two voices in each
sound, is there any way to separate them to play two voices at the same time
in different channels in logic or whatever...?

Thanks very much for the info. I have been successful syncing the
AN1X as a slave. It's a bummer though to hear that the AN1X can't
be used as a Master. Yeah, I can work around, but it's disappointing,
particularly given how well Yamaha did on so many other things on this
synth, it's surprising they didn't provide for this. Oh well.
