Bear in mind that the AN1x quite likely only transmits 8 bits of data
for the pots, which gives you 256 discrete values. These can easily be
heard. On the other hand, it understands more resolution via MIDI
(probably 16 bits or 16536 values) which sounds much smoother. No idea
if this is the case with the Gaia, but it could be.

Well even if it could receive a wider range of values, most of the parameters only have 7 bits, so there are only 128 different values.  But I really think my biggest problem is that my pots are being insensitive.  They could be sticking from being dirty, but they've had this problem for as long as I can remember.  I'm going to try cleaning them and see how that goes.  I'll keep you guys posted.
