Subject: any clues as to fault with my PLG-150AN / AN200

hey folks

i got a faulty AN200 thrown in as part of another purchase.  the unit works, drum/PCM/sequencer/effects all works fine.  but the sound from the PLG150 card is just distorted static mush.  vague attack but no notes or synth tones at all. however, after taking it out and putting it back in a couple times it sprung to life, all working fantastic.

since then, it's slipped back into distorted mush again, started working again, and now finally is back to the mush.  which is a bummer as i absolutely love the sound of it.

i have no idea what is wrong with it, there is no visible corrosion, busted capacitors or anything on the board.  can't find any loose mechanical connections or obviously bad solder joints.  it seems very odd to me that it would fail in the first place as it's not super old.  and even odder that it could work intermittently if it's not some simple issue like a bad connection.  and a bad connection seems unlikely as there is no mechanical movement.

wondering if anyone has experienced anything like this, or has any idea what it could be?  reading around i've seen some references to bad output on the AN1X but i'm not sure if that's related.  i would put it in for service but the fees will quickly end up being the cost of the board.

many thanks for any assistance
