Is that cheap usb-to-midi cable made by Yamaha? If no, then why are you trying to install Yamaha drivers for it?
These cheap usb-midi cables are class compliant & don't need drivers installed. Furthermore, no one can guarantee or help if these things don't work with some older synths. Buy yourself a decent midi interface with recent drivers. Midisport or Motu for good example.

Hey, all.
I recently picked up a very cheap usb-to-midi cable online to use an1x editor. Now, the device will not communicate with the system. In the editor, i am able to select in and out ports, listed as USB2.0-MIDI, but when trying to send or request data, I just get a message box with "Receive Error!"
I have tried installing the official Yamaha USB-MIDI drivers for my 64-bit version of Windows Vista, but even when following the setup walkthrough, I get an error 25001, telling me no device is connected.
Is the inexpensive cable unlikely to work or has anyone had success with one of these?
Thank you for any help.
