Hi Brian

Looks like this should be possible with either Sysex or using the AN200 PC Editor (see AN200 folder)

I have just added here...
Files > AN200 Folder > AN200 Editor - Step Sequencer
http://launch.groups.yahoo.com/group/AN1x-list/files/AN200%20Folder/AN200%20Editor%20-%20Step%20Sequencer/
...screen shots of the Editor's Step Sequencer programmer.

If you look towards the top left, you will see a track parameter box, which suggests that for each track (Synth + Rhythm1/2/3)you can set Cutoff, Res, Volume, Pan and Effect send level. Wow!

I twiddled the pan knob in each tab and noted the MIDI sysex output into MIDI-OX - here's the result.

Synth F0 43 10 6D 08 08 06 (00~7F) F7
Rhythm1 F0 43 10 6D 08 00 06 (00~7F) F7
Rhythm2 F0 43 10 6D 08 01 06 (00~7F) F7
Rhythm3 F0 43 10 6D 08 02 06 (00~7F) F7

The part in the bracket indicates the value that changes (0~127 in decimal, 00~7F in hexadecimal), where 1=left and 127=right. Incidentally, for the Rhythm track, value of 00 seems to set it to RND (random) which will presumably bounce your rhythm sounds around on each beat. Sounds like fun.

So you could use a MIDI DAW which can output Sysex codes, or XG Works + AN200 Editor, or a MIDI controller box (eg BCR2000) to set the pan for each track.

In theory!!!! I'm testing the AN Editor/Sysex on a PC not connected to an AN200, so I can't test it - that's up to you.

Have fun :)

Bill

For the synth track, I know that I can pan the track with the knob and can record a free EG to do that- problem is that I hear zippering going on. Is there a way to record each step with it's own pan assignment just to see if this would help?
