Hi Jonas...
sorry for your synth. It looks like a failure in the numeric keypad ...
or ??
One question : what happens when you DO NOT press the 7, 8 and 9 keys at
turn on ? It starts normally ?
What is the voltage at the power supply output plug ? It must be _at
least_ 12 V unloaded , "+" in the center. Some people on this forum had
issues with the supply, either Yamaha or aftermarket, leading sometimes
to weird behavior of the synth. For aftermarket supplies, minimum
voltage rating must be 12 V DC (loaded !), minimum current rating 700 mA
(more, say 1 A, can be better, do not try less....). Do not use supplies
with more than 15 V DC to avoid internal voltage regulators overload.
The external supply is not regulated, only rectified and filtered with
some capacitor. If one diode has failed or if the capacitor leaks the
voltage could collapse when it is loaded by the synth.
I don't know what is the price range for a second hand AN1x today... If
yours is in good cosmetic condition you can give it to Yamaha service
for a quotation, then decide if it's cheaper to have it repared or buy
another one, and keep the first as a spare parts reserve...
Cheers.
J.F.
