Like others have been saying here, the OS for the AN1X is held on an antiquated EPROM chip which can't be reprogrammed without removing it (and even then only with specialized equipment which is mostly found in landfills now). There is some information at this thread,
http://www.yamahaforums.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=4013. I wonder why you are concerned about this, is the keyboard not working properly? Everyone seems to agree only minor changes were made after the version you have. It seems like finding a working editor is more important for you. Sorry, I wasn't clear that you had a Mac, can't help you there.
