Subject: AN1x MIDI data format question...

Hi guys,
I'm working on a web script that can parse AN1x SysEx files, so I'm reading through the MIDI specification in the Data List booklet.
On page 14, MIDI Data Table 1-3, "Current Voice Common Buffer", bytes 61, 63, 65 and 67 are the bytes that store the Free EG Track Scene Switch setting for the four FEG tracks respectively.
The allowed byte values are 0x00h = Off, 0x01h = Scene 1, 0x02h = Scene 2 and 0x03h = Both... makes, sense, all well and good.
However, if I check the SysEx data from some of the preset patches on the AN1x, they use values larger than 0x03h. For example, patch 7 (Uni-Bass) has values 0x05h, 0x0Ah, 0x0Fh and 0x00h for its four tracks.
Just underneath the definition for these four bytes in the Data List though, it says:
"bit2..3=track sw's back up"
So, I'm guessing that bits 0 and 1 of the byte are the track scene switch setting (off, Scene 1, Scene 2 and Both)... but does anyone have any idea what the "back up" might be that bits 2 and 3 are storing information for? Reading through the Data List and manual for the AN1x, I can't see any reference to being able to back up data for the FEG Track Scene Switch...
Failing that, does anyone know of a contact in Yamaha I could pose the question to? Can't imagine there's too many engineers for the AN1x left working there these days, but it's worth a try?
Cheers!
John
