Damn, I am dumb! Sorry for polluting your mailboxes but the answer was just
on this thread. I think I just searched for the word "backup" and didn't
find anything so I posted my question here.

Van already answered all my questions below:

"BTW, you can remove/replace the battery without losing patches in memory,
by leaving the power supply plugged in and the power on while doing the
battery swap".

I will try that since I don't even have a MIDI interface...
