jp8000 is a nice sounding board but the an1x has more abilities as in sync
mode you get 3 osc and the use of noise plus am at the same time the jp if
you use noise you lose 1 of the osc

if you want to get into real va analog then get a dss1 korg

as this is a digital va section where you can make your own waveforms and is
the only sampler synth that has sync

you can use samples to and they have real analog filters

there is also a new 16mb upgrade and usb support with wave sample use from
pc

another good va synth is a k2000/k2500 you can pick these up pretty cheap

these sampler synths came out 7 to 10 years before the other makes and
models of va

the vast synth artitechture is very expessive especialy when used with
single cycle waves and the warp function you get very expessive fmtones with
very good modultion to pressue and velocity the only other synth that has
this feature is the korg 01/w

as anything its all in the programming
