If you only want to store/load sound files you can use MIDIox which is a
freeware easily found on the web. It cannot modify anything, or more
precisely it is not designed for this purpose. If you know perfectly all
the sysex codes of the AN1x you can edit your data as a text, change the
values (hexadecimal) and load the new file back to the synth but i
suppose it is an awful job...

In the manual of course...

First try to save all the memory content of your synth using one or the
other software, and ∗only after∗ try to load other sound files. In
emergency case you have a function in the test mode that restores the
complete factory sound set. Hidden somewhere in an EPROM it is then
stored in the RAM...
Do like that :
∗ turn the power "on" while holding the "7","8","9" keys together in
"the program change" keypad
∗ then "Fact. set? (1-9)" will appear on the LCD display
∗ choose one of the 9 options (1 = voices 1 to 64, 2 = voices 65 to
128, 3 = all the voices...i don't remember the others), for exemple 2
∗ press the "2" key, and then "YES/ENTER" : that's done! Of course
if you type "NO" you'll go back to the previous step.
I suppose that your AN1x is a second hand, so the previous owner could
have stored his own sounds : the factory set will only restore factory
sounds. If you like them, everyting is lost. So IMHO it is more secure
to store all the sounds on your computer using MIDIox or, of course,
AN1x edit.
Cheers!
